Fluid Bed Dryers are primarily used in almost all chemical, pharmaceutical, food, dyestuff and other process industries to dry materials by fluidization with hot and / or dehumidified air, which creates a turbulence in the wet product while flowing through it.

 

Features :-

The atmospheric air is sucked in the dryer through filter by efficient dynamically balanced fan driven by an electric motor.

The clean air then passes over the electric heaters / steam or radiator provided with controller. The hot air passes through the product and fluidization dries the product. Dryer is provided with dehumidifier at the inlet so as to dry the product at low temperature under fluidized condition. The blower speed is controlled by AC frequency drive so as to control the fluidization avoiding choking of the filter bag.

A raking system is provided to avoid lump formation in the container to achieve uniform fluidization and uniform drying. A model with complete automation and PLC, automatic bag shaking and with MIMIC is also offered. In conventional or surface heating, the process time is limited by the rate of heat flow into the body of the material from the surface as determined by its specific heat, thermal conductivity, density and viscosity. Surface heating is not only slow, but also non-uniform with the surfaces, edges and corners being much hotter than the inside of the material. Consequently, the quality of conventionally heated materials is variable and frequently inferior to the desired result.

Imperfect heating causes product rejections, wasted energy and extended process times that require large production areas devoted to ovens. Large ovens are slow to respond to needed temperature changes, take a long time to warm up and have high heat capacities and radiant losses. Their sluggish performance makes them slow to respond to changes in production requirements making their control difficult, subjective and expensive.

Conversely, with microwaves, heating the volume of a material at substantially the same rate is possible. This is known as volumetric heating. Energy is transferred through the material electro-magnetically, not as a thermal heat flux. Therefore, the rate of heating is not limited and the uniformity of heat distribution is greatly improved. Heating times can be reduced to less than one percent of that required using conventional techniques.

Working Principle :-
 
The raw materials are evenly distributed on the conveyer belt through suitable mechanisms such as star distributor, swing belt, crusher or granulator, then the conveyer passes through the channel including several heating units. Each heating unit is equipped with air heater and circulation system. Each channel has one or several damp discharge systems. When the conveyer passes through it making the hot air will pass through the raw material from down to bottom and vice versa. In this way materials are dried evenly.
